The teacher entered his classroom. The room had chalkboards that wrapped continuously around all 4 walls. He approached the front of the room and made two little hash marks on the blackboard about an inch apart. "That is how long man was on earth before he managed to screw up the planet."
The teacher then walked around the classroom drawing a long line around the entire blackboard. "And this is how long it'll take man to figure out how to fix what he did."

My dad used to joke about people who move from to Florida to retire. "Who needs to move to Florida?" he asks. "With global warming, soon Jersey will be the new Florida."

I haven't heard these stories in year, but they immediately came to mind with this week's theme of "climate change." Two short and simple stories brought to you as part of Theme Thursday and Blog Action Day. (After writing 75 pages worth of briefs and the finale of my story - posted below - I'm fried.)

both of them get straight to the point though...getting a little hot around here...happy tt!
Your dad may well be right!
Your first story, thats how I feel about NASA's explorations and sampling of the moon right now We don't know exactly how we did what we did to this planet, we certainly don't know how to fix it or if e can. So with that in mind shouldn't we contain our destruction to Earth and try to make amends...
I saw something like this, too, a timeline sort of deal. Scary stuff.
Sad isnt it that within such a short geologial and archeological time frame, we have done so much damage.
I've heard the chalkboard story before. Sad, but true.
I never heard that chalkboard thing. That is really true, we have altered the environment, you would have to put your head in the sand to not be able to see this!
That chalkboard example is such a simple way to tell the truth!
Your little thing about FL reminds me of a country song... the "oceanfront property in Arizona" one. I know he's not talking about global warming, but if the oceans all rise... we very well may be on the way to having some!
After reading your comments, I'm afraid I am in the minority here...I have doubts about global warming. I tend to see it as a result of cyclical changes.
Just sayin'...
