What's in the Box?

So... true to form, my big mouth got me in trouble today. I was mentioning that I was light on work. That's always a dangerous thing to do... Because now it's 7:30 and I have 6 briefs I have to wrap up and get filed by tomorrow when the courts close.

I was going to revive my vamp story for this week's Theme Thursday. But now I'm lucky to be throwing this post up here. Hook me up to a caffeine IV... It's going to be a LONG night.

Ever notice how no matter how many fancy toys you get for a kid, they're often more fascinated by the box it came in? Well, my little guy is no exception.

Here he is inside the box that his retro rocket came in. You'd think he would want to race around the house on it. Instead, he proceeded to climb into the box and command the action around him from "mission control."

Ah... to be entertained by something so simple...

Omg. Good Luck. And? My kids love the cheap toys. Why o why did I go the American Girl route when the freebie polly pocket in a happy meal will do? hmph.

Boxes are cheap! Go with it. ;)

That's so true - the wrapping is always more interesting than the present at that age.

Haha . . the second kidinabox post I've read tonight. He's very cute and I'm toddlerphobic! And Jaime you really should know better than to say you're a little 'light on work' especially after the past few weeks! Shame shame shame!

I would love to know what it is about cardboard boxes ... but over here the same as over there ... absolute fascination. Maybe they are hard wired to the brain?

The Trouble is......If you bought a box specially, what would it be packaged in?

There's more to explore with the box...you can transform it into almost anything your mind can think of...or be transmogrified by it...who needs the rocket ship when you've got an entire space station? Heh...

Nothing ever changes over time. Kids and boxes go hand-in-hand. Mine were no different. To heck with the toy, they want the box.

Hey, you can just get him boxes for Christmas and birthdays. Save money from not getting toys!

Children understand better than we adults do that, sometimes, what comes from the imagination is better entertainment than that which comes from a factory.

Reminds me of a time when I cut holes in a tall dresser box for my 2 yr old nephew. Babysitting him for the rest of that day was a piece of cake as he went in, out, in, out ... ;-)

Honey, NEVER say I have nothing to do because the fates will find a chore for you.

That boy is too cute. Box him up and send him to me. I'll feed him candy and cakes and let him play in the sand. :)

Silly grown-up! Don't you know that boxes are way more fun than any toy? Little kids, dogs, and cats all seem to have grasped this, but the adults cluelessly keep on spending enormous amounts of money to buy things to keep the kids and the pets entertained when they have a whole basement full of the very objects kids and pets really want to play with!

A box is always the favorite toy of children and I have noticed it is also a fun thing for my 9 month old kittens.

A cardboard box is entirely too entertaining... didn't ya know?!

Those are some adorable pics of your adorable baby!

Boxes are great. Dens, trains, cars, hideouts, they provide everything a kid needs. Toys, on the other hand, are pretty boring. Anyway, gotta go find a box.

This is also true of cats. Buy expensive toys and they stick their fuzzy little noses up at them. Open a box and WOO HOO! Playtime!

What a doll! After years of spending mounds of money on expensive toys my kids have gotten the most joy from:

1- Sticks
2- Hangers
3- Large cardboard boxes

Perhaps we're onto something here??

All kids are the same when it comes to playing with or in the box that their toys come in.

I hope your work load is light this week.

Hugs!!

I'm so glad that children still enjoy the simple pleasures of boxes and their imagination. Happy TT

Ahhh! the pics I have of my son in the boxes of the toys we got him! They are some of the best toys, the boxes not their contents. Good luck on the briefs!

There is a lot to explore when you're a toddler. Curiosity is as strong as hunger. He has a lot to think about.

Those pictures are adorable!

I'm going to have to remember this when I have children.... maybe I can just wrap boxes. Genius.
