Tuesday Randomness

I'm really not one to brag. Sometimes I think I'm far too modest for this profession. But since I can officially say this now, I'm going to: I have been named one of the Rising Stars (Jersey's outstanding young lawyers). Less than 2.5% of the State's lawyers earn this distinction. If you know anything about Jersey, the jokes go that we're full of toxic waste dumps and lawyers. So that means I beat out a ton of people for the honor of having my name and photograph appear in the Law Journal's Super Lawyers edition.

My photo kind of sucks though. I was 6 months pregnant and very puffy looking when they took this one. I wish they'd let me take a different one for them to publish!

But anyway, this is a very cool thing. One I'll probably never mention again because that's just the way I am... I don't announce to the world that I was founding editor in chief of law review or that I won a silly award for the 4th best brief in moot court. I did this stuff because I wanted to, not because it'd look good on my resume or because I wanted to have bragging rights to it years later.

Years later, if I don't have new stuff to brag about, I'm doing something wrong. So this is my moment of bragging.

And I'm done now.

Andrew's feeling much better. He walked into day care this morning and was promptly swarmed by his fans. Seriously, every little girl in his class loves him. He cruises in and they all stop what they're doing and flock to him. Some he high fives. Some give him hugs and try to hold his hand all day. Some are his dance partners. But I think his heart belongs to Katie today - because she shared her french toast sticks with him this morning.

If I had my way, people would have to submit themselves to remedial drivers lessons. What is it about the slightest bit of weather that make people forget how to drive? And why do people drive FIFTEEN in the fast lane? Fifteen is NOT fast. Not even for a snail.

I better get back to work... We have an expert report due in 7 days and don't have an expert yet. OOPS!

Congrats! You rock! And I'm sure the photo looks fab. Glad the baby is feeling better. Good thing he's a ladies' man already! Now get to work on your stuff already, would ya!

If it weren't for competent folks, there wouldn't really be any blogging fodder, now would there?

Congrats on the award, I'm sure that you've earned it a few times over!

Congrats. I'm in the top 2.5% too...I just haven't figured out what.

Nice work, babe...

...now, about clearing up these judgments...

Congrats!

Now I have to ask you whether or not it's worth going into law. I'm thinking of a career change...

Peggy: I think I'm probably more proud of my little ladies man.

Jen: Thank you. You can't see it, but I'm taking a little bow

Ms S: Yeah, yeah. I'm still drooling a little over today's pictures. I didn't want to salivate all over my docs...

Jor: Aww shucks. Incompetent people are lots of fun to write about. Not so much fun to deal with though.

VE: Congrats to you too then. We'll have to celebrate our accomplishments with a drink after work.

Brad: Thanks hon. I know I'm the de facto legal advisor and all but i have one word for you - RETAINER :)

GreenJello: Law school isn't for everyone. If you decide to go, I hope you like doing a LOT of reading. It's a rough time right now in all industries. I think there were 12,000 lawyers laid off in Jersey last month. If you have any questions though, I'm happy to try to answer them...

Congrats! That is so great to hear - brag all you want! :) Glad to hear your munchkin is feeling better - so funny he's a lady's man already in daycare...sounds like Katie knows how to get his attention away from his other fans with those french toast sticks...LOL! Absolutely agree about the driving lessons... Happy RTT! :)

Congrats! That's great!

You would think Chicago drivers would remember how to drive in the snow. But we have tons of fender benders in the first snow fall of the year, every year!

Congrats on your honor!

I had a post on my blog about driving, I just about can't stand getting behind the wheel anymore!(one of the old posts)

Way to GO!

Oh and as for the driving. Stop talking about me...you know I can read you don't you? ;)

I'm not that bad but I do drive like a blue haired old lady on ludes.

Jaime said...

Stacy: funny how the little girls learn so fast that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach

Ms Florida: Thanks :)

Ginny: That's sad. You guys should be used to the snow out there!

Otin: I'll go check it out. I like to hear other Jersey drivers bitch about the way the rest of the world drives

Gladys: Thanks. And since I know you're not cruising around Route 9 in Jersey in the mornings, you can drive however you like. :)

What an honor! Congratulations on that!

My heart belongs to ANYBODY that shares French toast sticks.

Also, congratulations!

Jaime said...

Blueviolet: Thank you

Keely: Mine too. But if you really want to get straight to my heart, ice cream wins out over french toast sticks any day of the week

Yeah, uhm, brag your ass off. If I had that accomplishment under my belt, I'd probably make a t-shirt or rent a billboard to let people know. Ok, maybe I wouldn't go to those extremes but it's certainly bragworthy. And man, your kid has quite the entourage at school. I'm pretty sure people say "oh crap" when we show up since my kid is the ball of energy who likes to test boundaries. He's lucky he's cute.

Congrats, Super Lawyer. If I ever get sued in the States I'm calling you.

Jaime said...

Casey: I don't know about a billboard, but maybe some sky writing?

Captain: If you ever get yourself into that much trouble, give me a call :)
