Is it raining in your house?

Just wondering... 'Cause it's raining in mine.
Okay, maybe not rain. But in a rare streak of domestic diva-ness brought on by an almost complete lack of clean clothes, I broke down and did the laundry today. (Sometimes I hold out hoping that hubby will pick up the slack...but the need for something to wear to work tomorrow won out over my monumental stubbornness.) As the last load was going, I started to hear the trickle of water coming from somewhere.
Andrew was happily dancing to the tune of his favorite commerical and stopped suddenly as drops of water splashed his hands. I scooped him up mere seconds before a torential downpour of water fell through my ceiling.
The stupid hose shook loose from the washing machine and all the water had to go somewhere... Fortunately, it missed Andrew and the tv. But it's still seeping out of the ceiling. SEVEN HOURS LATER.
As if that weren't bad enough, a couple hours ago my neighbor came to the house. Although we're friendly with the neighbors, we don't typically make house calls. I was hoping the problem was on their end and not mine.
No such luck...
For some bizarre reason, they waited until TODAY to tell us that water had been leaking into their place from our shared wall since Tuesday. Our hot water heater decided to rust away and is slowly leaking its contents everywhere. We had no idea. Everything in the adjoining closet is ruined. And I have the destinct pleasure of missing work tomorrow so I can pay my entire bonus check to the plumber so he'll make an emergency trip out to the house to replace the hot water heater.
The joys of home ownership...
