baby's first ball game

So we took Andrew to his first baseball game yesterday. I was conflicted about it. I mean, the kid's first ballgame should have been at the Stadium. But we were in Boston and everyone was going to Fenway to catch a game...so we brought him along.

He had a great time chowing down on hot dogs and popcorn. He loved dancing to the music and checking out the people. And, since the game wasn't very exciting for him, he charged up and down the stairs over and over and over again.

Andrew actually held up better at the game than my mother did. The clients threatened to dress Andrew up in Red Sox garb when we weren't watching. My dad loved telling everyone the story about how Andrew took a tour of the baseball room when he was 2 weeks old and burst into hysterics upon seeing a picture of Ted Williams.

So, as you can see, Andrew's learning of baseball partically started in the womb. His first game was no exception... Here are some of the finer points of Andrew's first ballpark baseball lesson:

The green monster is not Elmo.

His name is "Bay" sweetheart. Not "yay".

We don't clap for the red sox. We boo. Boo!

It's okay. Granpa's not crazy. He just gets a little rowdy at ballgames.

Real fans don't play with beachballs or do the wave.

No beer til college!

We all have to start somewhere, right?

OMG, He will have to overcome that awful memory of that horrid stadium, or should I say "park" LOL! Did you ever see the George Carlin routine oon the difference between baseball and football? You should see it if you did not! Sounds like you had a great time!

Unlike the boys, I am stuck with the fact you took a kid somewhere. I just don't enjoy the hassle of taking small children to anything that requires patience like baseball. Your very brave!!!

WOW! You ARE brave! Glad he enjoyed it. You'll probably have to continue the "no, grandpa's not crazy," line throughout his life...and then you will start to wonder if maybe grandpa IS just a little bit crazy.

I'm just guessing.

I have a feeling he will be going to many more baseball games in his future..

Sounds like fun. Shawn went to a game last week when we were in Kansas City. I let him off the hook and kept Brennan home. I don't think she is ready to sit still and enjoy a game yet.

Andrew is probably going to need a beer before college in order to fit in with the fans. Sounds like a fun day!
