Wednesday's Rhyme

It's Wednesday and Otin is trying to inspire the poet in all of us with his Rhyming Wednesday. You won't see any original stuff here... Today I'm lifting my words from Robert Frost - The Road Not Taken.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Hi Jaime, while I'm not the biggest Frost fan, I could swear I remember reading this, woven into another book( or maybe the author was quoting ). I did like a few of his, this being one of them but haven't read them all. Nice pick and as Otin said, it doesn't have to be your own, wot?

I often choose the road not taken! Usually I find that a bridge is out, but that is besides the point!

@otin, we've got a lot of bridges like that, round here.

I think I took that same road as well. :)

I have a hard time reading those for some reason, my brain wants it to work differently. Anyway, I love that poem. It reminds me of Auri's dad!

and don't you wish you had written it? I know I do.

Subby: there's a nice volume out now, "Selected Works of Robert Frost" with a silk ribbon book mark. Most of his best known work contained therein.

Only my second favorite poem EVER... my dad has his website listed as tworoadsdiverged.com so it's definitely a big theme in our house. Good choice! Hope your day got a little better yesterday=)

oh... and did I mention that I recited that at my nursing school graduation?

Good choice, always a classic. The last lines are well known but I can never remember the whole thing.
Thanks for posting.

I usually find a detour in my road, however, I find myself always finding a way to make my destination. xoxoxo
