Theme Thursday: Shoes

It was going to be a bitch of a day. I got an email at 10 the night before with a project that had to be completed in the morning. Never mind the fact that I was already going to be chained to my desk get another partner ready for expert depositions in a $30 million case. An all consuming sense of dread filled me as I closed my eyes for a couple hours sleep.

The alarm rudely went off 4 hours later. It stubbornly continued to demand my attention at 10 minute intervals for the next hour while I couldn't drag myself out of bed. I finally conceded defeat, rolled out of bed and pulled on my robe, still half asleep.

It was still early enough that I could bank a solid hour of billables before the little guy got up. As I opened the bedroom door, he started howling. Shifting to "plan b" has never been my strong suit. But at least I'd be able to get into the office early. So I hurried through getting myself ready, getting the munchkin ready and headed downstairs.

I always bring Andrew's shoes upstairs at night so that I don't have to chase him around the house, trying to wrestle him into each sneaker. Last night, I was so tired I forgot. But I spotted his shoes over by the couch, exactly where we took them off. Except...there was only 1 shoe.

I looked under the couch, behind the couch, in the couch cushions. I searched in the toy box, under the table, behind the book case. In the closet. In the bathroom. In the kitchen.

We searched high and low, over and under, near and far. The damn shoe just did not want to be found.

So (25 minutes later) I threw Andrew over my shoulder and carried him out to the car - barefoot - and brought him to daycare without any shoes.

And that was how my morning started...

HAHA! That is a crappy way to start the day! Did the daycare people say anything about him not having shoes? I hate it when I cannot find something, and I know that it is there in the house!

OMG!What a day!

Imagine being 50 years old and looking for little shoes under the damn sofa.
That's what BF & I do because we're raising his grandson.

At least you're still young & flexible!

What a 'game', first thing in the morning! I'm not very good for such alertness when I'm trying to say hello to the world myself!!
Thank goodness, I'm past that.

Heck half the time I cannot find my own shoes, let alone anyone else's shoes. So I always try to take them off by the front door so that way they will be there the next morning. I do so hope you found the missing shoe when you got home. And that you now keep a spare set. That is why I have about 50 pairs of shoes, but I usually just constantly wear the same pair. I have a pair of CROCS slip on's that sit by the door and another pair that I wear inside the house. I love them cause they are so cushiony and comfortable. I hate to have my toes covered for some reason, so living in So.CA we can almost wear sandals all year round.

As to how I am feeling after my surgery, I feel like shit, but I did start another website so I could post how I feel and others are joining in on how they feel.

It is called Mrsupole's Crap and is at:

http://mrsupoles-crap.blogspot.com/

Anyway that is where I have been writing about how I really feel and what the others have written is really funny. We are just writing about our crappy complaints about anything and everything. Things about what happens to you when you have surgery. And when I am healed, it will be a place to write about any kind of crap. So if you are having a crappy day and want to write crap about it, this is the place to go. We seem to be having some crap going around right now.

God bless.

Oh but jaime it couldn't be that bad, you spent a solid hour doing billables!

I would have a greedy little grin on my face.

Where did the shoe end up being?

This is good quality writing.

That would be a horrendous start to the day...

I have the same issue with the Princess Nagger - only, she's 6 so I expect her to put her shoes in the basket I bought just for that...except that she does the same thing Dada does and just kicks them off wherever. So when we're in a hurry to go somewhere, there is always a shoe missing. Considering she has a boatload of shoes you'd think it wouldn't be an issue. Yeah, it is. ;)

Whenever I see a shoe on the side of the road, I always wonder ...where IS the other one? -Jayne

Just as I TRULY BELIEVE there is a SOCK MONSTER that steals and consumes the socks from my dryer...I ALSO BELIEVE in the GREAT SHOE "SHIESTER" who puts single shoes in obscure places while we sleep at night! (THEN laughs maniacally while we frantically search for them in the a.m.)

There's always only one shoe when you are late and stressed!

Aw, man, that sucks. But at least little kids can get away with not wearning shoes. Little kids' feet are so stinkin' cute!

LOL....not a great kick-off to the day for sure. We had a shoe issue last weekend. I got our 2 year old flip flops and he wanted to wear them to bed. Go ahead. And then he woke up and one had come off...tears.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if that's how your day began, I'm glad you ended the story there! ;-)
