random tuesday thoughts #7

It's so hot that just stepping out of my car, I feel my curls frizz and my flesh bake. It's a balmy 102 degrees (assuming the temperature gauge on my car is working right). Although I'm practically melting, I love it! There (almost) no better feeling than closing my eyes and feeling the hot sunshine on my skin.

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you guys to a very simple concept...it's called the brake pedal. It's that little thing in your car next to the gas pedal. I mention this because it seems some of you have never been properly introduced. We use this mysterious device to slow down the car or bring the vehicle to a full stop...like when my car is in front of yours and I'm not moving. If you can't learn to differentiate between the gas and brake, get off the road! You don't deserve the privilege of driving.

Yesterday's deposition was painful. It took me longer to drive down to South Jersey than it did to actually ask the questions. I subscribe to the "don't prolong the agony" deposition approach. I'm not going to sit there and ask nonsensical questions for hours just to waste the other side's time. When I have nothing left to ask, I end the dep. I don't understand attorneys who insist on asking questions just for the sake of churning the file...

I'm watching "The Wrestler" right now. I don't see what all the hype was about.. It's not that good. And I have a really hard time buying Marisa Tomei as a pole dancing stripper. I really should just turn this movie off, but I'm the type who sits and suffers through really bad movies because I paid for the price of admission. I've only ever walked out of two...French Kiss (which was utterly horrible) and Closer. Maybe I would have stayed to the end of Closer had I not been there with my mother... But it was just completely embarrassing watching that movie with her.

It's amazing how resourceful my son is. He had the misfortune of coming with me into my office on Sunday. I promised him I'd be quick (especially since there was no air conditioning over the weekend) and gave him 2 little cookies. He intently watched me put the lid back on the box and place the box back on the table. The next thing I know, I hear a little thump and Andrew's cruising over to me carrying the box, smiling triumphantly. He puts the box on the ground at my feet and signs "more" and "please." How could I refuse him after that? I still have NO idea how he got up on that table. It was really high!

I've been ordered to take my son to Sears so there can be professional photos of him for mother's day. I'm running out of time. Better get him there soon.

We took Andrew to the safari at Great Adventure over the weekend. He didn't know what to make of the animals at first, particularly the giraffes. But he warmed up after a few minutes and pointed excitedly to every animal, calling each one a dog. I don't know - I suppose a bear could look like a dog...

I think most of the hyped up movies (like the wrestler) suck.

Then again, I would much prefer reality TV. ;)

I used to hate the drive to south Jersey, it is such a boring ride. The turnpike and the Parkway both. You obviously had someone almost rear end you.(I'm talking about driving!) LOL. Catch you later on my chat site!HAHA!!

I'd surely melt in such heat. Already worried about an upcoming business trip to the States in a couple of weeks - I'm used to mild (not hot!) rainy Ireland *lol*

Oh, and get those drivers off the road. There'd be so much more room for the rest of us :-)

Brakes pedals are very important and totally under rated.

Kids are amazing.

Happy Random Tuesday.

Plenty of people use their brake peddle- like when they cut in front of me when I'm in a hurry or when I'm about to miss the green light.

I didn't like the movie Closer either. I'm thinking I probably won't like The Wrestler. There are so many hyped movies that I end up watching and scratch my head about. No Country for Old Men is a perfect example. I just didn't get it and especially hated the ending.

Hyped up movies totally suck, very rarely do they ever turn out to be worthwhile. Marisa Tormei as a stripper though......she is cute! Probably their only selling point. xoxox

I wish it was hot here - I am sitting here freezing my arse off - my fingers are icy!

I'm sure the clients appreciate your "hold the agony" depositions, too. I know I would!

I can only remember walking out of one movie in my life...Sugar & Spice with Mena Suvari...

And then we walked into a Sandra Bullock movie...the one where she's an undercover beauty pageant girl?

I heard the Wrestler was overrated too and also that Mickey Rourke was painful to look at!

I love this heat too!

lol, my son calls everything a dog too. Well, a 'woof'. It's his frame of reference I guess.

I also walked out of French Kiss!

Candie: It'll be raining here tomorrow. I tried to enjoy the sun while it lasted.

Candice: That's true. I also watched Vicky Christina Barcelona over the weekend - weird. I think I'm dumber for having watched it

Otin: On the way down the turnpike I almost had someone rear end me and another car almost T-boned me. Other drivers suck!

Dot-com: My grandma and I always used to say that one day we'd be in charge of something and our first order of business would be to revoke everyone's license!

K: Couldn't agree more

Harriet: I hate that too

Jen: At least I didn't pay 12 bucks to see it at the movie. Another benefit to Netflix.

Ric: She looked HORRIBLE in the movie. Too many tats and piercings. Plus they wanted her to look like an old, washed up stripper.

Tiaras: Trade ya!

Green Jello: I had one client get pissed that I didn't prolong the agony. He was deposed for 2 days. I got the plaintiff done in 2 1/2 hours.

Peggy: Miss Congeniality was trading WAY up from Sugar & Spice!

Marathoner: My hair hates it though...

Keely: We're still working on "woof"

otin: graduating high school? college?

otin: uh-oh. i'll be over soon to collect my beating. i mean tagging

So THAT'S what that other pedal is for. Oops.

We've never done the professional photos but I think I might give it a shot here soon. Hopefully the kids will stop beating on one another long enough to smile pretty.

Brake pedals... totally random concept! Kids are sneaky and resourceful... never forget that. Too bad the deposition sucked. All part of the job, I guess!

Ooh, good call on 'French Kiss', that was a painful one! I had the misfortune to watch 'Superbad' with my mom. Talk about uncomfortable.

Jaime said...

casey: novel concept, isn't it? :)

ms s: the drive sucked. the dep was okay. check back later for my stellar moments in deposition taking...

julie: superbad was painful. adding mom to the mix - excruciating!

Man, I don't know where you live, but I wish I lived close to you so I could take his pictures for you : ). I live in Montgomery county about 45 minutes outside of Philly.

I thought French Kiss was the WORST movie I have ever seen too. It was SO bad that it was painful to watch!

Hope your day is blissful!

Oh and PS I can't stand bad drivers either. What is wrong with people? Seriously! What is wrong with them?
