water

It was a beautiful day. The first real warm and sunny day of spring. Then without warning, the storm clouds rolled in. The sky became dark and threatening. And finally with a loud crack of thunder, the sky opened up and rain pounded the windows angrily.
I still can't figure out how such a wonderful day disintegrated so quickly. Or how the weather outside so closely mirrored the mood in our room. I ponder this as I lay in bed, staring out the window, my vision obscured by the teeming rain and my own tears.
The silence was palpable and distance between our rigid bodies seemingly insurmountable. The swords had temporarily been put away but the damage was done. There were no more words anyway.
We were fundamentally and diametrically opposed in our views. No amount of talking, crying, screaming or threatening would change that.
I reach out, brushing the tears from my cheek and wonder if this time we finally hit a bump no amount of love, stubbornness and determination can overcome.
I stare out at the rain, searching for answers, finding none.

I hate nights like that.

The storms can pass as quickly as they come. Especially in spring. Beautifully introspective. Glad we could be here for you.

By tell me more, I meant your post was well written. Hope you took it that way. :)

Nice piece. My own Theme Thursday post has a similar comparison of the characters' moods and a thunderstorm. Your story holds more potential for happiness than my poem, however.

We have all hit those bumps, especially if we have really been in love. A very touching psot.
