This Would Only Happen to Me

If not for bad luck, I would have no luck at all. Need proof? Let me present you with Exhibit A:

This is a door...
This is a door knob...
It's very simple. You turn the door knob and the door opens. Even my son can figure this one out at 15 months...
Except that's not how it worked this morning. This morning, I spent the better part of an hour locked INSIDE my room!
I closed the door behind me so I wouldn't have to chase Andrew all over the house while I was trying to get ready for the gym. Once I'm dressed and read to go, I turn the knob and nothing happens. I turn it in the other direction. Nothing. I bang on the door. Then I call hubby over. He tries the door. Nothing.
I have always cursed him for keeping his stupid tool box in the bedroom. Today I was actually happy for it. The idiots who had the house before us put the door knob on so that the screws were on the outside of the door, so we couldn't just unscrew the look. Hubby attempts to take the door off the hinges, but layer upon layer of paint prevents us from being able to lift off the door.
So finally he takes out a wallpaper scraper and a hammer and, after lots of very loud banging, he breaks the lock off the door. We were able to escape from the room after exactly 47 minutes of trying to open a freaking door.
I've told this story to 4 people so far today and each one of them has asked if I'm serious. Of course I'm serious. Even I couldn't make a story like this up

Um, okay.
Did you still end up going to the gym?
If that had been me, I would have NOT gone to the gym.
I would have probably gone to Home Depot to get another freakin' door knob.

I have that kind of luck sometimes, where everything would have to align perfectly for something to go wrong, and somehow it does!

Are you serious? (Sorry, couldn't resist).

This story scares me. It rates up there with locking one of my boys in the car while it's running and not being able to get them to unlock the door for me.

I'm pretty sure if that happened to me, take it as a divine intervention and hop right back into the sac! :)

Awful situation to be in.Hopefully you weren't alone!

Thank goodness you had help! I live alone for the most part, but then again because I live alone I wouldn't be closing doors behind me very often!

Hope the rest of your weekend went well.

Oh my gosh! I can't believe this! Thank God he had the toolbox in there. What would you have done if he didn't have it there?

Auntie: Yup. I had my cell phone in my hand and was about to call my trainer when he got the door unlocked.

otin: always. i always have this kind of luck.

stacey: that would be scary too. i would have been a lot more freaked out had andrew not been trapped in the room with us

peggy: i should have interpreted it that way. the day didn't get much better!

candie: i don't know what i would have done if hubby wasn't there to get us out of the room

kelly: i would have freaked out if i had been alone.

kaishon: i have no idea. if he wasn't there, i would have called hubby! then my best friend who has a key and (hopefully) a screwdriver. and then my mother. in that order

Ric: me too it seems.

I'm glad he had the toolbox, and you didn't have to dial 911. Now that would have been serious embarrassment!
