aloha friday #13

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is a day to take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So today I'm taking it easy on blogging. I ask a question - you answer.

This week, I've been called honey, dear and sweetie. All by big, burly men in the courthouse sporting guns on their hips. The fear of getting shot kept me from telling them what I really thought of being called any of those names.

What name to you hate being called?

Gun on their hip or not... I'd start wearing one myself and start throwing the names back in their direction!
I've been racking my brain trying to think of a particular name that bugs me. Not sure that it's the name that bothers me as much as the intention behind it. Know what I mean? If it's meant to belittle... there's nothing worse. If it's actually meant to be warm and endearing, I'm okay with that.

I hate it when someone says, "Hey you", It does not happen often, but I feel like someone is calling their dog!

That's when you answer them back with pet names of "sugarpie" "sweet-ums" and "loveypoo". It tends to get the point across.

BABE!! I don't know why, but my hubby used to call me that and I hated it. I just don't like the sound of it. Maybe baby... not babe.

Have an awesome LONG weekend!

I always hate when people who barely know me call me Steph. My name's Stephanie. This gets rooted back to childhood. lol

I hate "babe" but really I just want to be called by my name...if you don't know my name, just don't call me a name.

For me it's all in the intention. The sweet old ladies can get away with calling me anything they want, but I'd get pissed at the young male coworker.

I tried to think of one but I just couldn't. I don't really mind being called anything. :|

I'm not particularly fond of "Ma'am". Make me feel like an old lady!

hi girl,
the students in my junior high school call all their teachers "Miss" (or Mister). I think it's demeaning. I always insist on being called by my name.
BTW, have you ever considered calling those guys the same thing they call you? It might work...
